Postcard Series Book 2020
Postcard Series Book 2020
Book Size: 7” x 7”
This has been a memorable year, a pandemic, economic depression, and a spotlight on racism/police brutality. There have been a multitude of emotions surrounding those issues. I tried to focus on what I can control because I was overwhelmed by uncertainty and past memories. I’ve noticed that this year I have been drawing more on the front of the postcard, which makes me think that I’ve been afraid to acknowledge my pain and share it with others at certain points of my life. I wanted to postpone having to write my thoughts on pivotal topics on the back of the postcards. However by taking the time to reflect on important issues, I believe I should be doing more to help. I’ve found there are depths to pain and sadness. This year overall has been bittersweet, lots of baby step forward in the art business while experiencing major life moments detached through a computer screen. Any time spent with family and friends has been a major highlight and treasured opportunity. The year did end on a thankful note - getting to meet my new puppy Ember - who I have been writing to for the past year for this book. I’ve tried to find a balance in these postcards between creation, inspiration, and honesty.
